About

As is obvious by the content on this site, I’m a domain name investor (domainer, seomainer, call it what you like). I buy domain names because

  1. It’s just like any property, there’s a limited supply so the values are highly sought afer names are bound to go up. It’s just a matter of having the right evaluation of what is valuable and what is trash
  2. Domain Names are cool. It’s not much different to collecting trading cards, except there’s much more money involved in the higher end.
  3. Domain Names are cheap. Relative to other money making strategies, the domain name market is still very young. There’s not a whole lot of people doing this so whilst the top end domains like abc.com, computers.com, internet.com are all too pricy for the common investor, there’s heaps of niche’s that are untapped and you are only competing with a handful of people rather than the whole industry.

Most importantly though, I register domain names because I’m a serial website creator. I enjoy seeing my ideas come to fruition and having the world see my work. So far, my successful sites include Hottest Girl Online and my Do Follow Search Engine, which both get used by people unbenown to me on a daily basis.

One of the biggest problems when creating a website though, is finding a domain name that is perfect for your idea and then being able to register it. All of the domains that I have registered are domain names that I intend to use sometime in the future - it makes it so much easier to have a large pool of my own domains to choose from the next time I decide to make a skateboarding site (sliick.com?), a clothing site (manwears.com?), or a photography site (spectaculous.com?) - you get the picture.

I must voice out though, that I’m a not a domain squatter or a typo squatter. What I absolutely do not do is

  1. Register trademarked domains (eg. microsoft.com)
  2. Register typos in trademarked domains (eg. mcrosoft.com)

These practises are both morally and ethically wrong and I will not take part in this even if there is money to be made. What I will do though, is register generic domains that I think are valuable, sounds ‘cool’, and can be developed into a website in the future.

Thanks for visiting domainholics.com. See you at the auctions! :D
